‘He may be on the bench against Leeds United’: Paul Merson gives his prediction about in form Chelsea star

Tuchel and Havertz

Kai Havertz undoubtedly had his best game in Chelsea colours against Everton in the Premier League. He made the first goal which was unfortunately denied after a Ben Godfrey own goal and then won the penalty for Jorginho to put away.
Mason Mount will be back in contention for the Leeds United game
Havertz has been under immense pressure at Chelsea after he failed to prove his high price tag under former manager Frank Lampard. Lampard used him in a host of different positions which included playing him as a forward to an attacking midfielder as well but none was effective.
However it seems like Thomas Tuchel has finally managed to crack the Kai Havertz cheat code. Tuchel used him as a false nine and gave him the freedom to roam around in the final third. This enables Havertz to get the space he needs to create as well as score.
However Paul Merson believes that even after a strong performance against Everton, Tuchel may have to bench him for the match against Leeds United. This is because Mason Mount is on the list as well and was rested against Everton.
When you are winning every week that’s what happens.
“The problem he has now is Havertz just had his best game for Chelsea by a million miles, but I’d be surprised if he plays next week.
“Mason Mount was outstanding against Liverpool but then he didn’t play against Everton.”
