At UFC Vegas 46, Brandon Royval had the toughest victory of his MMA career but in the end, he did it! The former LFA flyweight champion and the #5 ranked UFC flyweight grabbed many eyeballs on his last fight against Rogerio Bontorin to let the world know what the Factory X protege was all about. With that win, Royval will be closely assessing his position through the results of the flyweight title fight between the champion Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo happening at UFC 270.

Royval has an overall MMA record of 13-6 with 3-2 in the UFC. Royval started off well coming into the promotion during the onset of the Covid pandemic when he secured back-to-back big wins against Tim Elliott and Kai Kara France, however, it was followed by a two-fight skid from losing to current champion Brandon Moreno and #2 flyweight Askar Askarov. Now, Royval came back with a razor-close decision victory over Bontorin and is focused on only rising up in the rankings for a title shot as soon as possible in the near future.

In an interview with TMZ Sports, Royval talked about his next possible fight and why he wants to stay busy in 2022 not waiting for a big fight but rather an active year.

“The only fight that makes sense to me right now is the loser of Figgy [Figueiredo] and Moreno, I think that’s the only fight that makes sense, I don’t think I am deserving of the title shot next because I came off a loss from Pantoja… and Askarov is in the line… and depending on him if Kai Kara France knocks him [Askarov] out is where I kind of fit in, between there,” says Royval.

After asserting that he doesn’t want to stay waiting for his next fight and asserting again that he will take the loser of the title showdown at UFC 270 between Moreno and Figueiredo, Royval then said about his chances for a title shot in 2022.

“It’s like in this situation too, Figgy misses weight man, I’m on weight right now,” said Royval, “I’m ready to go in as an alternative, so there’s a chance I could be fighting for a title next week, you know what I’m saying, it’s a slim chance and that’s the mentality I’ve now I’m ready for anything,” he concluded.
