Deontay Wilder

Deontay Wilder is probably going through a rough time now. The former heavyweight champion has been completely out of sorts since his loss to Tyson Fury, last February, at MGM Grand Garden Arena. He has already fired his trainer Mark Breland, and every single interview he gives – he comes up with a new accusation.

Speaking in an interview with SkySports, Matchroom Boxing CEO and Anthony Joshua’s boxing promoter Eddie Hearn claimed that Wilder has been wasting ‘valuable time’, as it has almost been a year since he last fought. Hearn also pointed out to Wilder imploding in every single interview he has been giving. Hearn felt that it is ‘high time’ – Wilder gets back in the ring.

Eddie Hearn was quoted as saying, “I do believe that Deontay Wilder is, you know, I mean he was supposed to be fighting in January. Now we are in the middle of February. So, how much longer is he going to wait? He (Wilder) has been out of the ring for a year now. And, he is slowly imploding in every single interview that he gives. So, he should get back in the ring. Wilder is already 35, and he might just have a few years left in his boxing career. Regaining the all important titles, has become a tough ask as well, as all the attention has now shifted towards Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. Wilder, meanwhile has shown interest in fighting Dillian Whyte, whom he kept ignoring back when he (Wilder) was in his prime, which seems to be the only legit and available ‘option’ for the ‘Bronze Bomber’.
