Aceing his record-breaking 36th Masters 1000 title and 5th Italian Open crown, World No. 1 Novak Djokovic once again emerged victorious, toppling off Diego Schwartzman’s quest for a maiden Masters 1000 title with a 7-5, 6-3 win over the Argentine in straight sets.

With all the fiasco going on around since his disqualification from the US Open 2020, Novak Djokovic’s wife Jelena has been a tremendous support for the Top seed. With such a strong partner beside to catch him when he falls, the Serb is sure to bounce back with all his grit.

New York Times journalist Christopher Clarey tweeted on Novak’s victory. He also highlighted the US Open default in his tweet, remarking that the Serb’s only loss has been ‘to himself’. He still stands undefeated in a proper match.

Clarey wrote, ”Defaulted in New York, the elastic Novak Djokovic bounces back in Rome. Beats Diego Schwartzman 7-5 6-3 for his 5th Italian Open title Djokovic now 31-1 in 2020 but still in essence undefeated. His only loss was to himself.”

Hitting back on the reporter, Jelena took the tweet to be funny and retaliated on the entire debacle of Djokovic’s exit from the flushing meadows.

“Lol, that’s why he stopped bouncing the ball so much. So he can keep bouncing back no matter what,” Jelena replied back to the tweet, pacifying her spouse’s critics.

Also, there were lot of presumptions on his comeback post the disqualification. To strike back on all the claims, he stands strong with his zeal, holding up his fifth Italian Open title.

All set and headed towards Roland Garros, the World No. 1 exclaimed post his masters’ victory, “It was a great week. A very challenging week. I don’t think I played my best tennis throughout the entire week, but I think I found my best tennis when I needed it the most in the decisive moments today, yesterday [and in] practically every match.”

The Serb has etched his name in history by bagging the highest number of Masters 1000 titles and surpassing the ‘King of Clay’ Rafael Nadal. His dominance over the sport through the past decade speaks up via his record-breaking 36 titles.

Next ahead of him, stands the French Open 2020 in less than a week. The tussle between the Roland Garros favourite Rafa and the record-breaking Serb would be definitely a match, one will look forward to.
