‘He will never be the greatest to me’, Nick Kyrgios hits out at Novak Djokovic on his place in the G.O.A.T. race

Nick Kyrgios Novak Djokovic

The tussle between Nick Kyrgios and Novak Djokovic is not ready to die down. The Australian blasted Djokovic or his letter to Craig Tiley, calling him ‘A tool’. Now, Kyrgios has commented on the Serb’s place in the Greatest Of All Time(G.O.A.T.) debate. It is very well-documented that Kyrgios and Djokovic don’t get along well. And these recent comments from Kyrgios hasn’t helped the situation.
In a recent interview, the Australian said that for him Novak Djokovic will never be the greatest tennis player of all time. Kyrgios justified his view by comparing Novak Djokovic’s performances against him. In their two encounters, Kyrgios has defeated Nadal both times. And this what shaped Kyrgios’ opinion. “No matter how many Majors Novak wins, he will never be the greatest to me. I played against him twice, and if he can’t beat me, you are not the greatest of all time,” Nick Kyrgios said.
Kyrgios first defeated Djokovic in the quarterfinal of the Mexican Open 2017. The Aussie prevailed in that match 7-6, 7-5, booking his place semifinal. Novak Djokovic again lost to Kyrgios few weeks later at the Indian Wells Masters 2017. The world no.1 is the five times winner of this competition. But, Kyrgios knocked him out in the fourth round in the competition 6-4, 7-6(7).
Nick Kyrgios calls Djokovic ‘a tool’ for sending the letter to Craig Tiley

Before commenting on Djokovic’s GOAT status, Kyrgios slammed the Serb for sending a letter asking him to ease some restrictions placed on players in Melbourne. Kyrgios tweeted about that letter and called Novak Djokovic. “Djokovic is a tool,” Nick Kyrgios wrote.
But Kyrgios wasn’t the first one to flat out reject Djokovic proposals. Tennis Australia and Victor state Premiere Daniel Andrews also rejected the Serb’s proposals.
