A return to the European Tour is likely on the cards for Henrik Stenson. The 2016 Open Championship winner, who was relegated from LIV Golf following the 2025 season, is reported to be rejoining the DP World Tour.
Stenson was one of the high-profile names from the European Tour who left them to join LIV Golf. He was one of the three captains of the Majesticks GC, along with Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood.
After he joined them, Stenson was stripped of the European Ryder Cup captaincy and replaced by Luke Donald.
Unlike the previous seasons, where captains would get an exemption if they finished in the “Drop Zone“, there was no exemption in the 2025 campaign. All three golfers were in danger of getting relegated from the league.
A late four-birdie surge from Poulter saw him dramatically oust his own teammate. Stenson was one of the 6 golfers alongside Andy Ogletree, Mito Pereira, Yubin Jang, Anthony Kim and Frederik Kjettrup who were relegated from LIV Golf following the conclusion of the Indianapolis event.

The relegated players could return to LIV Golf through the International Series on the Asian Tour or through Promotions Events (Q School). Stenson, however, is reported to be eyeing a return to the European Tour.
According to reports from Bunkered, the 49-year-old has settled the outstanding fines imposed by the DP World Tour after joining LIV Golf. This development comes after the league informed the golfers that the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) will stop paying their fines after this season.
LIV Golfers, who wish to retain their DP World Tour membership, will need to pay their fines on their own after December 31.

Stenson last played on the DP World Tour in December 2023 at the Dubai Desert Classic. At the moment, it is unclear when he will make his first start on the European Tour in the upcoming season.
The 2-time Race to Dubai title winner also holds a minority stake in Majesticks GC. It is also unclear what will happen on that front in the next LIV Golf season.

He should go on the Hotel Planner tour and he would not get into the DP tour from there.

Sorry I don’t welcome any Liv player back.

Turned his back on the real tour for money, and now considered for a captain.
