In the current scenario, franchises can’t increase the salary of a player after he has been bought at a certain price in the auction. There are no options for bonus or increment. Franchises want to negotiate so that other teams can’t take away the player for better salaries.

Like most jobs, there's no provision of increment. Suppose he's bought for Rs 30 lakh and has an outstanding IPL, the franchise should have the option of offering him, say a Rs 3 crore fresh contract for the next year, rather than lose him to some other team.

The franchises also want BCCI to organize the auction once in every five years. During the mega auction, the franchises will have the option for 8 retentions. The BCCI might approve just 5. The decision regarding RTM picks is yet to be taken.

So, the upcoming meeting in the new office of the Wankhede Stadium is sure to be very important. It will decide the fate of the IPL 2025 auction and will also bring about a lot of changes in the upcoming edition of the IPL. Only time will reveal what happens finally and what decisions are approved by the BCCI.
