“He’s hit the reset button,” Jon Anik expects better of Tony Ferguson in his fight against Michael Chandler at UFC 274
Tony Ferguson- Jon Anik
Longtime UFC broadcaster Jon Anik is a saviour of honour for the names of many notable fighters for their legacies, and Tony Ferguson is one of them. Anik will be commentating alongside colour commentator and comedian Joe Rogan and MMA Legend Daniel Cormier at UFC 274. UFC 274 will be headlined by a lightweight event between Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje with the lightweight belt on the line but only for Gaethje since Oliveira missed weight.
On the same fight card, Ferguson is facing former lightweight title challenger Michael Chandler in a 3-round lightweight battle. While Ferguson is known for his unorthodox but entertaining style of fighting and an exceptional grappling skillset, Chandler is a vicious knockout artist with submissions under his arsenal as well. Ferguson is on a 3-fight skid while Chandler is on a 2-fight skid and therefore, this fight is extremely important to winning for either of the fighters.

Tony Ferguson should be in the Hall of Fame as per Jon Anik
In an interview with MMA Fighting, Anik took the opportunity to appreciate Ferguson for his time inside the UFC octagon for so long and made sure that fans don’t mistake this upcoming fight against Chandler for a swan song in Ferguson’s currently tough career.
“I don’t think this is going to be the last Tony Ferguson fight week by any stretch of the imagination,” says Anik “I still think there’s some fight left in the dog, even if that might be the minority opinion. It seems like he’s hit the reset button, the year away, bringing in the old college wrestling coach. I like the matchmaking and we’ll see what Tony can do with it.”
“If it were not for a wayward television cord, there would be no debate as to whether or not he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. You want to talk about inimitable, you want to talk about one and only, you want to talk about a fighter you want to tell your kids about — Nate Diaz is another guy — but it’s Tony Ferguson.“
What do you make of Anik’s comments about Ferguson? Do you think he is right about Ferguson having a few more fights in his future? Who do you think wins between Chandler and Ferguson at UFC 274? Also, what credentials do you think should be ranked at the top for his Hall of Fame induction if it ever happens in future?
