“He’s the closest thing left to Tom Brady.” Skip Bayless makes an incredible comparison between Joe Burrow and the GOAT

Joe Burrow and Skip Bayless

Joe Burrow and his Cincinnati Bengals will play in Super Bowl 56 against the Los Angeles Rams. The Cinderella story of these Bengals has been one of the best we’ve seen in the NFL for quite some time.

Throughout the season, the Bengals have been the underdogs but time and time again, they’ve quite literally defeated the odds. Going into the Super Bowl, they find themselves as the underdogs currently but that doesn’t mean they don’t have their fair share of betters.

Skip Bayless in particular has voiced his praise for the Bengals and thinks they do have a real shot at a ring and it all starts with Joe Burrow.

In a segment of ‘Undisputed’, Skip Bayless was quoted saying “He’s (Joe Burrow) the closest thing left to Tom Brady. He’s Brady-esque. I’m not saying he’ll ever be Tom Brady but he operates his offense the same way Brady did. He can speed read it, find the most open receiver and deliver a very catchable and accurate pass the way nobody else can, consistently.”

Bayless further added “His physical and mental toughness is up there with Brady’s. It’s hard to gauge it because it’s hard to see and feel that this quarterback has taken this punishment but obviously, he went down nine times in Tennessee and still won.”

About why Burrow stands out, Bayless said “Playing quarterback to me is mostly about intangibles. It helps to have a big arm but it helps a lot more to have an accurate arm that’s above average and off the charts intangibles. Mental, physical toughness under fire. Poise under fire. Pocket feet are more important than down the field speed. This team believes in him as their leader.”

The Bengals defense hasn’t been unbelievable coming into the playoffs but they certainly stepped it up in their three games so far. That combined with Joe Burrow and his unbelievable offense makes this team scary for anyone to face.

If Burrow and Chase start hitting like they have this year, you can bet anything that the Bengals will keep up with anything Stafford and Kupp can come up with. Having Evan McPherson hitting two game-winners in back-to-back playoff games is also a massive boost to this team. If it’s a close game late on, Joe Burrow will find a way to get his team the points they need to win this Super Bowl.
