Dr. Dre revealed that he has set his sights on the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, taking on a new challenge in archery. The legendary producer and rapper announced that he will be competing in the next Olympic Games, taking his skills in a surprising new arena.
Dr. Dre is much appreciated for reshaping the music industry with his legendary work. In a recent interview, he revealed his ambition to represent USA in archery. Despite his hobby being known to many, his announcement came as a surprise. He shared that his longstanding interest in the sport dated back to his high school years where he was a part of his school’s archery team.
I’m trying to try out for the Olympics in 2028, Archery. I’m dead-a** serious.
Dr. Dre saidin an interview with Entertainment Tonight
He had lost touch with the sport but reconnected when his son gifted him a complete archery setup. Dr. Dre mentioned that he recently learned the Olympic qualifying distance is 77 feet; however, he has been practicing at 90 feet.
He appears committed and dedicated to preparing for the competitive sport. It’s likely that Dr. Dre drew inspiration from his close friend, Snoop Dogg. Dre expressed his excitements about the next Olympics being in his hometown Los Angeles. He mused that it would be interesting to not just participate but also win a gold.
Dr. Dre’s fellow rapper Snoop Dogg has different sport in mind for the Olympic Games
Snoop Dogg had a completely different sport in mind to compete in the Olympic games, which contrasted with Dr. Dre’s passion for archery. The rapper had his dream team of three hip-hop legends ready to compete in the games if rap was taken in as a sport.
Snoop Dogg picked Eminem as number one for his global exposure. He had said that he would take Rakim for the old school vibe, and then he would pull up with Queen Latifah to sprinkle some royalty in the arena. Although breakdancing did make an appearance at the Paris Olympics, rap was not on the list this year.
Besides rap, Snoop Dogg revealed in an interview that he wanted to dribble with the US Basketball team as a special correspondent for the NBC. Not only that, he also would have loved to dive in the water and see if he could get a 50 second time-out in the 50-meter freestyle. While he also wanted to try out pole vault, he backed off when he saw what it looked like.
