Champions are not born, they are made. The Indian hockey team has proven that despite all odds, despite all the criticism and hardships, if a unit is determined to achieve a goal, it will accomplish it. After as many as 41 years, the Indian hockey team scripted history in Tokyo.
The Bronze medal victory of the men in blue against a strong German side was spectacular, to say the least. After a dodgy start, the Indians made a thumping comeback and defeated Germany in the last moments of the game. As the Indian team pulled off one of the greatest victories of all time, emotions were overflowing at the stadium. India’s coach Graham Reid and almost everyone else on the ground had tears in his eyes. This win will surely change the landscape of hockey in India.
Moreover, as soon as the Indian skipper was called in to talk about his feelings after the monumental win, he claimed that he would like to dedicate this win to the Covid warriors and the frontline workers of the nation who helped fellow citizens in the time of distress.
His words showcase the passion and affection his team has for the people of the country for whom they have done the stupendous deed. In the ultimate encounter, Indians were able to put in a calculated team effort which allowed them to win.
Simranjeet Singh scored twice in the 17th and 34th minutes, while Hardik Singh showcased his magic in the 27th minute after which Harmanpreet Singh and Rupinder Pal Singh scored in 29th and 31st minute respectively to take the Indian team to a wonderful victory.
