“Champ Squared” Israel Adesanya to fight Jan Blachowicz next, confirms Dana White
Israel Adesanya is the king of the middleweight division, having dominated all the opponents he has faced, including the likes Robert Whittaker and Paulo Costa. Adesanya is clearly looking at new challenges, as he recently even stated that he doesn’t believe in revenge matches, pointing out to the loss against Alex Pereira saying that it was done and dusted.
Elsewhere, Jan Blachowicz has had an unbelievable year; the Pole beat Dominick Reyes to claim the light heavyweight championship, after Jon Jones vacated it following his move to the heavyweight division. Now, it has been confirmed that Israel Adesanya and Jan Blachowicz will be fighting in a title bout in the light heavyweight division – UFC Boss Dana White confirmed it at the post-match interview of UFC Fight Night : Hall vs Silva.
“Craziest s*** I’ve ever seen” – Dana White
At the post-fight conference Dana was asked if Adesanya was fighting Jan Blachowicz next. An assured Dana replied, “Yeah! Listen when the fight was over on Fight Island, the last fight, I was like I’m going to have to sit down with this kid and convince him on why he needs to fight Whittaker, and Whittaker comes out and says he doesn’t want to fight him. Craziest s*** I’ve ever seen! So yeah! There’s no arguing with Israel now. I thought Whittaker deserved the shot and Whittaker doesn’t want it so we’ll let him do it.”
Another reporter quipped saying, “If he wins the 205-pound title, then everyone’s gonna want him to fight Jon Jones!”. Dana replied saying, “If he wins 205-pound? Yeah? Me too”.
It will be interesting to see how far Israel Adesanya goes, but for now, he has a super-fight coming up against the “Super Pole”. Will the “Last Stylebender’s” exploits continue?
