Holger Rune recently talked about Novak Djokovic‘s announcement of his hiring of Andy Murray as his coach. The Dane, who is a massive fan of Roger Federer revealed that the Swiss maestro is his ‘dream coach’.

Rune was surprised upon learning that Djokovic hired Murray as he never anticipated the collaboration. Murray this year became the second member of the Big 4 to retire from tennis after Federer, who called time on his career at the 2022 Laver Cup. Although the 43-year-old has no plans to become a coach, he is Rune’s dream coach.

I don’t need another coach right now, to be honest. I’m a massive fan of Roger Federer, so why not! But I don’t think he’s into coaching right now.

Holger Rune told reporters at the UTS Grand Final in London

The 21-year-old had several coaching changes in recent years and in July this season, he parted ways with Patrick Mouratoglou for the second time after hiring the French coach in 2022. Boris Becker and Severin Luthi were also a part of Rune’s team but the partnership did not last for a long time. Following the split with Mouratoglou, Rune added compatriot and childhood coach Kenneth Carlsen to his team.

No. I have been in the mix to sign a lot of coaches but no. It’s come to a stage where I am just going to keep it simple now and go back to keep on improving and doing what I am used to try and achieve my goals.

Holger Rune told reporters

Rune is set to start his campaign for the 2025 season at the Brisbane International where in 2024, he was the runner-up as he lost to Grigor Dimitrov. The World No.13 was 45-23 on the season and failed to win any title with Brisbane International being the only tournament where he reached the summit clash. He ended the season after losing to eventual winner Alexander Zverev in the semifinal of the Paris Masters.
