The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Houston Texans in a couple of days, but there’s still no guarantee whether star quarterback Patrick Mahomes will take the field. However, the Texans aren’t ready to chalk off the possibility just yet and are prepared to make life hell for the multiple-time NFL MVP.
Mahomes picked up an ankle injury in the Chiefs’ week 15 win over the Cleveland Browns. Carson Wentz replaced him for the rest of the game, and if Mahomes fails to recover in time, the veteran will start for the Chiefs in week 16. The 9-5 Texans are preparing for the game, keeping Mahomes in mind.
During a recent interview with the Texans, defensive tackle Tim Settle Jr. fired warning shots at the 29-year-old. Seattle said they will not show any mercy.
This is the top team in the league right now… but this [Chiefs] O-line definitely has their struggles, and I feel like we can take advantage of that. We’ve [Texans] got an elite D-line. Pat’s a little banged up, so I don’t know if he’s gonna play or not, but I hope he’s mobile enough because we’re coming to Arrowhead [Stadium in Kansas City]. Pat better make good decisions.

“Pat better make a good decision.” #Texans defense promises to get after Chiefs Patrick Mahomes. Full comments from Tim Settle Jr. when we talked today. Texans defense ranks in the top 3 in sacks and turnovers. Ought to be fun Saturday at Arrowhead. @HoustonTexans pic.twitter.com/6qID6pHHCa

Settle spent two years with the Buffalo Bills before switching to the Texans this year, so he is familiar with the Chiefs. Mahomes, on the other hand, has a 3-1 record against the Houston franchise. He has 1,141 passing yards, 13 passing touchdowns, and one interception in those four games.
Will Patrick Mahomes play against the Texans?
The recent reports paint an encouraging picture for the Chiefs fans who flock to GEHA Field to watch Mahomes work his magic. As per Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports, the 3x Super Bowl winner was a full participant during practice on Wednesday.

Chiefs beat reporter Jesse Newell shared videos of Mahomes going through some light stretches and passing drills.

Mahomes hasn’t had the best of seasons. Midway through the campaign he topped the charts for interceptions and struggled to bring his wide receivers into the game. Regardless of the performances, the Chiefs still carved out wins and now sit comfortably at the top of the AFC with a 14-1 record.

There’s further positive news for the Chiefs. New signing Hollywood Brown is set to make his debut against the Texans. Brown suffered a sternoclavicular injury during the preseason and went through extended rehab to get himself fit. Similar to Mahomes, the former Ravens and Cardinals wide receiver was a full participant in training this week- another offensive weapon for the reigning champions to use.
