Lamar Jackson has played every single time against the Houston Texans since joining the Baltimore Ravens, who drafted him 32nd overall in 2018. However, the two-time NFL MVP will not suit up for the Birds when they host their AFC rivals on Sunday, October 5, at 12:00 p.m. CT/1 p.m. ET.
Jackson hurt his hamstring in a week four loss against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Ravens currently stand at a 1-3 record, having lost to the Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, and the Chiefs.
The Texans are in the same boat as the Ravens with a 1-3 record. CJ Stroud’s third year in Houston began with three straight defeats at the hands of the Los Angeles Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Jacksonville Jaguars before securing a blowout 26-0 victory over the winless Tennessee Titans.
These two teams have met 15 times in the past, with the Ravens leading the series 13-2. Stroud remains without a win in three attempts against Jackson and the Ravens. However, Jackson’s injury will keep him out of the fixture, giving Cooper Rush the center stage.

Why can the Houston Texans win?
Stroud experienced a dip in form during his second year in the league, and the trajectory has continued in 2025 as well. He threw 3 interceptions in the three losses and completed just over 500 passing yards.
However, everything changed in the divisional rivalry against the Titans last week. Stroud threw 22 completions from 28 attempts for 233 yards (78.6%) and 2 touchdowns to open the Texans’ account for the year.
Running back Woody Marks made a great impression with 17 rushes for 69 yards and 1 touchdown. Marks further caught 4 passes for 50 yards and 1 touchdown.
Why can the Ravens win?
Cooper Rush has not played much football in his nine-year stint. However, he made a big impact last year in Dallas following Dak Prescott’s injury. Rush posted a 4-4 record, completing 187 passes from 308 attempts for 1844 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions.
Star running back Derrick Henry only had 8 carries for 42 yards, but did not record any fumbles like the previous three outings. After four games, Henry has racked up 49 carries for 284 yards and 3 touchdowns.
