Patrick Mahomes has broken a lot of records in the NFL. His legacy as one of the greats to play football will be hard to argue with when he chooses to call it a career. Mahomes has broken the bank as an athlete after signing his historic 10-year deal with an upside potential of $503 million.
His current net worth is estimated to be $90 million as per Celebrity Net Worth but YouTuber Joe Pompliano believes the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback stands to make a lot more from his investments and will be on the fast track to becoming a billionaire within a decade.
Patrick Mahomes has solidified his position as an owner of multiple sports teams in Kansas City. The quarterback currently holds a stake in the Kansas City Current (NWSL), Kansas City Royals (MLB), Sporting Kansas City (MLS), and Alpine F1 Team (Formula 1). His current sporting endeavors have been profitable but the one that will make a big splash is yet to come, at least Pompliano believes that.
Patrick Mahomes is working toward bringing a WNBA expansion team to Kansas City
The three-time Super Bowl champion aims to bring a WNBA team to Kansas City- a vision he intends to turn into reality by 2028. He has been meeting with the league’s top brass to show that he is serious about this move.
Obviously, we want to get basketball in Kansas City in general. You talk about the University of Kansas basketball, the Chiefs, whatever it is, the city is going to come out to the stadium. It’s cool we were able to get the women’s soccer team here and you see the support they have.
Mahomes said.
Mahomes’ involvement will prove to be beneficial for any team he puts his money into. The WNBA has experienced phenomenal growth over the last season after rookies from the 24′ Draft Class resulted in a boost of the viewership numbers.

The WNBA will be expanding by introducing three new teams over the next two years with franchises in Golden State, Portland, and Toronto. The Kansas City Currents have benefitted from Mahomes’ involvement as the team has sold out all home games this season. So if he can land a team in Kansas City then it would be a great boost for women’s basketball and his RoI.
The WNBA will expect him to put up some serious money upfront, upwards of $50 million in capital. He will not be going solo on this deal and has a team of partners. There is a possibility that Travis Kelce will be a part of his consortium investing in this endeavor.
If Patrick Mahomes accomplishes this feat, he will fall into the categories of Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson who have gone on to have fruitful careers post basketball becoming billionaires through their business ventures. Mahomes has leveraged himself great financially early on in his career and the understanding is that he will continue to invest in ventures with positive upside potential which will take him to the $1 billion mark sooner than Jordan, Johnson, or Tiger Woods.
