Magomedov’s relentless spirit and courage make him a fighter to watch in the UFC. The Russian athlete entered the UFC as a hot prospect, boasting an impressive perfect record of 11 wins and 0 losses. Dana White, the CEO of the UFC, is keen on extending contracts to promising fighters and has signed ‘Shara Bullet.’ However, unlike many Russian fighters, Magomedov does not possess exceptional wrestling skills.
White was especially surprised by the lack of that flashiness in Magomedov’s fighting style. Nevertheless, the Russian fighter has consistently outclassed every opponent he has faced in the promotion. Both fighters share the experience of battling a detached retina, with Magomedov’s right eye being the one affected. The details behind how Magomedov lost his sight remain somewhat of a mystery.
As of now, the only indication is a sparring session in Thailand—a country renowned for its rich Muay Thai tradition. What’s even more remarkable is that Magomedov had undergone eight surgeries on his eye before deciding that removal was the direction in which he wanted to go.
This eventually forced him to take a two-year hiatus from the fight world. Despite the obstacles he has faced, his determination and spirit in the face of adversity are truly inspiring!
Does Shara Bullet face difficulties in his fighting career?
Sharaputdin Magomedov has expressed the challenges of competing with only one working eye on several occasions. Although having a single functioning eye presents a clear disadvantage, he has refused to allow his impairment to hinder his path to success in his MMA career. The primary challenge posed by the absence of an eye is the trouble with depth perception, which leads to difficulties in gauging distance.
However, with eight finishes in his 11 victories since the surgery, Magomedov has seemingly managed to navigate that problem in fine style. Throughout his journey, the Dagestani fighter has drawn inspiration from Michael Bisping’s remarkable UFC career, during which Bisping held the title in the middleweight division. In turn, Bisping has frequently praised Magomedov’s impressive performances in the ring.
Most recently, ‘The Count’ shared his prediction for Shara Bullet’s upcoming fight this weekend. Notably, Magomedov is set to put his perfect record on the line against Michael ‘Venom’ Page at UFC Saudi Arabia. It will be interesting to see if the rising Dagestani fighter can outperform a veteran like Page, who has a black belt in Kung Fu.
