The Olympic Games, an opportunity that countries only usually experience once in a generation if they are lucky to host them at all. When a country’s government hosts the Olympics it wants to do well, and to do well it is prepared to free up more money to sports.

It doesn’t take much examination of the statistics to be able to confirm what was already fairly obvious to sports fans–the home team wins more often. This is particularly true of the Olympic Games. With one exception, USA at Atlanta 1996. Essentially there are three factors: not having to travel, familiarity with sports venues and the crowd’s influence on both competitors and referees.

There is no doubt that India has sporting talent, so why does it fail to translate this into Olympic success? Low medal tallies can arise either a country has very few people or because very few of its people effectively participate. If Olympic games comes to India then participation in sports will increase. Government will provide more support to youth so that they can choose sports as a profession.

If India win the bidding process to host the 2032 Olympics, it will revolutionize the whole country. We will be able to provide greater logistics support to our athletes. Athletes will have six to seven years of intensive sponsorship and training. Government will promote more sports activities that will help to find out talent in rural areas which goes unnoticed. We will have good sports facilities, good sports academics, proper support staff and athlete-friendly sports policies.
