Yuvraj Singh had a brief altercation with England’s Andrew Flintoff in 2007 ICC T20 Cricket World Cup. And later he hammered Stuart Broad six times into the stands to become the first man on the planet to hit six sixes in T20 cricket.
13 years later, the left-handed batsman recalled the miracle by sharing a throwback picture of himself. The snapshot is one of the sixes he hit off Stuart Broad in the league match against England.
Singh, who recently announced his comeback plans from retirement for his state — Punjab, captioned the picture: “13 years! How time flies!! #memories”.
Since then, September 19, 2007, has been etched into the memories of Indian cricket fans.
Broad recalled the day, too, and commented: “Time flies less than the cricket ball that night.” The comment left Yuvraj in ruptures as he fondly recalled the game as “one night we all will never forget”.
Another big-hitter Chris Gayle commented and called Yuvraj’s feat “legendary” while Gautam Gambhir, picked a famous line from Indian movie, Sholay, and said: “Ye record mujhe de de Thakur”.
Yuvraj finished off in style
All this began when the Team India were on 173/3 at the end of the 18th overs in their first innings. Yuvraj came to crease and along with former India captain MS Dhoni, the pair finished the things off in style.
Yuvraj and Andrew Flintoff got involved in an altercation when Yuvi smashed Flintoff for two fours in the 18th over.
Meanwhile, the verbal altercation pumped up Yuvraj and it was Broad who bore all Yuvi’s aggression in the very next over.
The 38-year-old scored 58 runs off 16 balls, hitting four boundaries and seven maximums and the side set the target of 218 for 4. In reply, England was constrained to 200/6 and relinquished to an 18-run defeat.
