Currently, significant developments are occurring in the boxing community, largely due to Saudi GEA chairman Turki Alalshikh. These developments primarily relate to ongoing negotiations for a potential fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford. There was growing speculation that Jake Paul could be one of the next potential opponents for boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez. Reports had even suggested that a fight between the two was confirmed. However, recent official news from Turki Alalshikh indicates that this matchup is no longer happening. Consequently, Eddie Hearn believes that this intervention cost Alvarez a big payday night.
I mean my guess for the number for that fight is somewhere between sixty to eighty million, for Canelo… The fight does potentially two million buys which is a hundred and eighty million dollars of revenue, just TV revenue, not closed circuit, not the gate. The gate’s another thirty million. You are looking at over two hundred million dollars of revenue for that fight.

Hearn is among the many notable figures in boxing who believe that a matchup between Canelo and Paul would be exciting. He expressed confidence that the Mexican boxing superstar would not turn down a substantial amount of money to face off against the ‘Problem Child.’ However, this fight is unlikely to take place, as Alalshikh has intervened and signed Alvarez to a four-fight deal with Riyadh Season.

According to the rumored plan for Canelo Alvarez’s four-fight deal, he is scheduled to face Terence Crawford in September 2025. However, before that bout, the Mexican boxing star is expected to participate in a fight in May 2025. Initially, there was speculation that Alvarez’s opponent would be Jake Paul, but Alalshikh’s statements after announcing the multi-fight deal suggest otherwise.

In response, Alalshikh appeared to take a subtle jab at Paul. One of the main reasons for this is Paul’s disinterest in influencer boxing. Unlike Canelo and Crawford, the Problem Child does not come from a traditional boxing background. Nevertheless, Paul plans to one day win a boxing world title.
