On Friday (November 29), Hubert Hurkacz took to his Instagram to announce his partnership with Ivan Lendl and Nicolas Massu. Hurkacz split from his coach of five years Craig Boynton in August this year.
Under Boynton, who joined Hurkacz’s team in 2019, the Pole won all eight of his tour-level titles and also reached a career-high ranking of No.6. This season however was unlike last year as he could grab just one title, the Estoril Open, earlier this season.
Last year, he clinched two Masters 1000 titles at the Miami Open and Shanghai Masters. Hurkacz ended his season after his first-round exit at the Paris Masters. Also for the first time in three years, the current World No. 16 finished outside of the top ten.
On his social media, he shared a picture of himself standing in the middle of Lendl and Massu and simply wrote ‘Bring in on, 2025’ as caption to announce the big change in his team.

The 27-year-old’s season was also marred by injury as he tore the meniscus in his right knee during his second match at Wimbledon. He then underwent surgery and also missed the Paris Olympics. The Canadian then returned to tennis at the Canadian Open and made it to the quarterfinals.
Will Ivan Lendl and Nicolas Massu guide Hubert Hurkacz to his first major victory?
Both Ivan Lendl and Nicolas Massu are Grand Slam champions. Lendl is an eight-time major champion, winning three titles at the French Open and US Open, and two titles at the Australian Open. The Chilean coach on the other hand has won gold medals in both singles and doubles in the Olympics.
Lendl had three stints as coach of former World No.1 Andy Murray. During their partnership, the 64-year-old guided the Scot to three Grand Slam trophies (two Wimbledon in 2013 and 2016 and one US Open in 2012), one ATP Finals, 11 Masters 1000, and two Olympic gold medals.
Murray also reached the top of the rankings under Lendl’s tutelage. But Lendl, who was in Alexander Zverev‘s entourage from 2018-2019, was unsuccessful in guiding the German to any major title.
Massu had coached former World No. 3 Dominic Thiem and under him, the Austrian won his first Grand Slam title (2020 US Open). Now with Lendl and Massu in his team, Hurkacz will look forward to getting back to his winning ways in 2025.
