Hulk Hogan transformed the landscape of not just the WWE but professional wrestling as a whole. The 70-year-old carried the company on his back in the 70s and 80s. Additionally, he put the focus of professional wrestling on character work and storylines rather than simply having matches, as was the norm before him.

In an interview with The 700 Club, Hulk Hogan talked about his global popularity as the world’s biggest wrestling icon. He mentioned that his popularity stemmed from generational trust. Everybody in a family, ranging from the grandparents, the parents, and the kids, is aware of who the Hulkster is.

Hulk Hogan reveals the most memorable moment of his wrestling career

In the same interview, Hulk Hogan proceeded to talk about the most memorable moment in his wrestling career. In January 1984, the 70-year-old was set to face The Iron Sheik for the WWF Championship in Madison Square Garden. Iran had held 444 Americans hostages during that time. In fact, Sheik had been the actual bodyguard of the Shah of Iran. Meanwhile, he was playing the patriotic American character.
