Colby Covington had high expectations going into UFC Tampa, and he made sure to leave no stone unturned. As the fighter walked out to the octagon, he was accompanied by Chael Sonnen and wrestling legend Hulk Hogan. The all-American waved the national flag as Covington entered the cage to fight Joaquin Buckley. 

Ahead of the fight, while Covington was getting ready in the locker room, Hogan paid him a visit, and the conversation was captured by the camera. In the video, Covington can be heard thanking Hogan for teaching him how to efficiently tear the shirt before the fight. The ‘Chaos’ was seen with a pre-cut shirt, which reduced the chances of hilariously failing to do so for theatrics.

Hogan is quite known for ripping his shirts, and he recently did the same at a Donald Trump rally in order to hype the crowd. Covington is well known for his endorsement of Trump, and this could be a mutual bonding situation for Hogan and him. The fighter also wore a Trump chain to show his unwavering support for the president of the United States.

Covington made his UFC comeback after a year and was desperately in need of a win. However, the reality was disappointing as the fighter lost his second fight in a row against Joaquin Buckley. This loss has now raised a variety of questions for Covington’s future in the promotion.

Hulk Hogan and Chael Sonnen couldn’t help Colby Covington at UFC Tampa

Colby Covington and Chael Sonnen are quite close to each other and share a great relationship. The UFC legend has often promoted Covington on his YouTube channel. This weekend, the fighter shocked fans by recruiting Sonnen as his head coach going into the fight.

Sonnen, as expected, gave an incredible speech in order to hype the fight fans. However, during the fight, his input wasn’t of any use. As Joaquin Buckley dominated Covington, Sonnen tried to calm the fighter down in between the rounds. Covington, on the other hand, couldn’t stop Buckley’s pressure and was helpless.

In the early rounds, Covington got a cut on his right eyelid, which resulted in blood gushing out from it. In the third round, the ringside doctor had enough and decided to stop the fight. It was definitely not the result the UFC veteran wanted at this stage of his career.
