Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn didn’t like what he saw from the Philadelphia Eagles near the end of their week 16 showdown at Landover. Despite leading by 17 points, the Eagles pushed to increase their lead with four minutes left on the clock.

On 2nd & 6, the Eagles sent backup running back Tank Bigsby to give Saquon Barkley a breather. Bigsby, who joined the Eagles in the offseason from Jacksonville, took the ball from quarterback Jalen Hurts and rushed to score a 22-yard touchdown. It was Bigsby’s first TD for the Eagles.

With how the game had progressed, Nick Sirianni could have just ended the drive by letting Jake Elliott score the extra point. The Eagles instead opted for a two-point attempt. Barkley successfully converted the two-point try to extend the gap further.

Reporters asked Dan Quinn about what went through his head when he saw the Eagles choose to start peddling despite the massive lead. It didn’t surprise Quinn, but he wasn’t happy either.

That’s their choice… I want to look at the tape and see what happened before our ejections or poise or any of those things.

Quinn also sent a bold message to the Eagles in his closing statement.

If that’s how they want to get down, all good. We play them again in two weeks.

Right after Barkley scored the PAT, a massive brawl broke out between the Eagles and Commanders players. The players were already on the edge, and the two-pointer tipped the pot over.

When the dust settled, the referee disqualified Washington’s Javon Kinlaw and Quan Martin, and Eagles offensive lineman Tyler Steen for unnecessary roughness.

Sirianni disclosed the reason behind opting for two points before the brawl broke out between the Eagles and Commanders players

Unlike the Commanders, who were already eliminated from the playoffs, the Eagles had everything to play for on Saturday. So, it made sense for the Eagles to put up as many points as possible.

Speaking with reporters after the game, Siranni revealed the main reason behind going for the 2-point attempt.

We were up 17. To go up 18, we did the math and said hey, we wanted to be able to make sure we were up 19. We thought it was a little bit better. That way, they could only tie you with a field goal … two touchdowns and two two-point conversions.
