Last weekend, Boston Red Sox’s rookie pitcher Hunter Dobbins came under the spotlight after he made some bold comments regarding the New York Yankees. While pointing out his dad, the pitcher claimed that he would rather ‘retire‘ than play for the Yankees. After a report expressed that his claims were false, the pitcher broke his silence on this matter and defended his father.
The 25-year-old star expressed that his father was a huge Red Sox fan. In an interview with the Boston Herald before the rubber game on Sunday, the young pitcher explained that his father was drafted twice by the Yankees and was later traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
On Tuesday, a bombshell report from the New York Post came out. As per insider Joel Sherman, Hunter Dobbins’ father, Lance Dobbins, was never signed by the Yankees. According to him, there is no record of him ever being drafted by the Bronx Bombers as said by the young Dobbins.

A day later, Dobbins was asked about this. The right-handed pitcher claimed that he never fact-checked his father.
The whole backstory is stuff that I had heard growing up and seeing pictures from my dad. At the end of the day, it’s just from my dad and what kind of grew my love for the game. At the end of the day, I don’t go and fact-check my dad or anything like that.
Dobbins was later asked whether he was concerned now after the reports from the NY Post. The pitcher shook his head in no and expressed that it does not ‘faze’ him.
Doesn’t faze me. Doesn’t bother me. I love working with the media and everybody here. Everybody’s been great, so my focus is performing for the guys here in the locker room, for the fans of Boston. Something that’s a few hours away doesn’t faze me.
Hunter Dobbins isn't too concerned about a New York Post article 🤷♂️

After making that bold comment regarding never playing for the Yankees, he gave up a 2-run home run to Aaron Judge in the first inning. However, his offense was able to back him and came back stronger. Dobbins ended up picking his third win of the season as the Red Sox won the game 11-7.
