Hyderabad end their winless run with a 2-0 victory against Chennaiyin FC

Hyderabad FC moved up to 3rd place in the Hero Indian Super league table. They defeated Chennaiyin Fc 2-0 with goals coming from Fran Sandaza and Joel Chianese.

Hyderabad completed the double over Chennaiyin in the league as they had defeated them 4-1 earlier in the season. Chennaiyin remained 5 points off the Top-4 with this defeat.

Chennaiyin coach Laszlo was disappointed with his team’s effort

Hyderabad made their intentions clear right from the beginning of the match winning a corner in the early stages of the match. Fran Sandaza opened the scoring for the Nizams on the 28th minute after Joao Victor found him with a perfectly weighted pass inside the box.

Fran Sandaza and Joel Chianese scored in either half to seal a crucial win for the Nizams. Chennaiyin came out of the half-time break with a couple of changes – Fatkhulo Fatkhulloev and Edwin Vanspaul came on for Germanpreet Singh and Thoi Singh – and the move looked to have paid off.

The Marina Machans, on the other hand, missed a lot of chances and that cost them the match. The post came to Hyderabad’s aid twice as Chennaiyin missed clear goal scoring chances. Joel Chianese found the back of the net from a narrow-angle to close the match for the hosts.

Chennaiyin FC coach rued his side’s lack of finishing in front of goal. Chennaiyin missed three chances from the goal line as desperate defending helped the hosts claim full 3 points.

“At times, I am speechless,” said Laszlo after the game. “This is really disappointing. The first half was not a good game for us but even the opponent did not have many chances.

The Chennaiyin boss further added that it is not possible for a coach to teach the basics of the game to professional players.

From one chance they scored one goal. But I almost compliment my players for the spirit they showed but on the other hand, if you don’t score goals, you will never win matches.
