German World No. 7 Alexander Zverev has had a complicated few weeks. After having one of his best seasons on-court, he has been accused of domestic abuse by his ex-girlfriend, as another ex-girlfriend announced her pregnancy.

Zverev, currently competing at the 2020 Rolex Paris Masters, is keen to play tennis and doesn’t want his personal life to affect his performance on the court.

“I’m enjoying my time on court,” says Zverev

Zverev has also won the twin Cologne events this year

The German doesn’t seem to be too fazed by his off-court troubles, taking only 55 minutes to breeze past Miomir Kecmanovic in the second round. With a score of 6-2, 6-2, he couldn’t have asked for a better start.

In his post-match conference, Zverev was quizzed by reporters about the allegations. He replied frankly, “Well, I’m here to play tennis. So, you know, I have been doing that well in the last few weeks. I mean, since the [restart] of the season, and I want to continue doing that.”

“As you said, there is obviously a little bit of things going on [but] I have said everything on my Instagram. There is nothing else I can add right now. I’m here to play tennis. I’m enjoying my time on court. I have said everything and there is nothing more I can say right now,” he concluded.

Zverev is currently being coached by David Ferrer, a Spanish legend and the 2012 champion at Paris. He will be looking to emulate his coach by trying to win his first Paris trophy. He said, “[David] has great memories of this tournament. I hope I can do the same [thing] he did in 2012. We will see how it goes.”

Zverev will next play against Adrian Mannarino in the third round on Thursday.
