“I didn’t come to Mercedes for short-term,” George Russell desires to drive for Mercedes for many more years to come
George Russell
George Russell took over a Mercedes at the start of the 2022 season. George transferred from Williams a back marker to the best team on the grid with an expectation of getting his first win and maybe a title. But things didn’t really end the way he wanted them to, due to the 2022 regulations, W13 didn’t stand as per the expectation of the team and no at all of the driver.
George Russell has been a part Mercedes group since his junior racing career started. As a dream, he is now in a Mercedes performing at the best level. Russell is considered to be a prodigy and he meant to win a championship considering the car. But Mercedes didn’t live up to its reputation. George still has performed really well in a car that isn’t really competitive. Podium is the maximum a Mercedes could hope for and George has been on it five times this season.
But George expects more from his team and the car, at least standing on the top of the step. “There is potential in this car. The technical directive applicable to Spa should affect teams that have used soft surfaces. I see us getting closer and closer. If we continue at this pace, nothing will stop us from fighting for the wins. I don’t think we will ever have the fastest car, but I think we will have our chance,” said Russell.
George Russell on his long-term plans with Mercedes
George Russell is in contract with Mercedes till the end of the 2023 season. But he looks for more years in the Silver Arrow to get himself a chance to showcase his performance. He has a strong intuition for the team’s comeback and will be a part of it too.
“I didn’t come to Mercedes for short-term success. I came for the long term and this is the best place to give me that opportunity. I’m looking at a period of five to ten years,” said George.
George Russell is currently fighting Ferrari and Carlos Sainz for much more years in the Silver Arrow to get himself a chance to showcase his performance. He has a strong intuition for the team’s comeback and will be a part of it too.
