“I don’t know if Jurgen Klopp respects me but I respect him a lot; We will have dinner one day in the Hall of Fame”- Manchester City’s boss Pep Guardiola

Liverpool halted Manchester City’s winning ways and put themselves back in the title race as they drew 2-2 at the Etihad stadium. The two produced one of the best matches of the season on Sunday as the fans saw an enthralling performance by both sides, keeping them on their feet. It was another stunning display of Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp’s tactics put up against each other.

As the Spaniard headed to the post-match presentation he had nothing but respect for his rival coach as he applauded his tactics and his team’s play against the blues

Speaking of the German coach Pep Guardiola said, “I don’t know if Jurgen respects me but I respect him a lot. He makes me a better manager… his teams are positive, and aggressive and they want to attack. I try to imitate him.”

Guardiola even mentioned that although he is not friends with Klopp and doesn’t talk to the German much often despite having his phone number, he still has an immense amount of respect for him.

“We aren’t friends, we don’t have dinner together, we will have dinner one day in the Hall of Fame, I have his telephone number but I don’t call him. I have a lot of respect for him and he knows next Saturday, we’ll try to beat him. That made me think a lot, offensively, defensively, make me think for so many years perform the way they perform.”

Manchester City still has 7 matchdays left to play in the premier league. A clean performance in all of the securing the 3 points in as many as possible would be key for the Sky Blues as they are currently topping the Premier League by a slender one-point lead. Talking about it and the current performance of his team Pep Guardiola stated that he is confident about his team’s chances of winning the Premier League title this season.

“‘Seven games in the Premier League is a lot of points, we have to play away, they have to but I had a feeling we’ll behave. I don’t know what’s going to happen. The way we performed against a team that I admire a lot.”

Pep Guardiola doesn’t hold anyone responsible for the result and admires the performance of his team but warns Liverpool this may not be the case in the FA cup semi-finals.

“In Anfield, we played an incredible half and when we equalised, it was the same result. I had the feeling we’ll miss the opportunity to get four points but I said to you, it doesn’t happen win, lose, draw it’s not over. I’d say the same with a win, it’s not over because I told you we’d take an advantage. We know what we have to do, go to Madrid, FA Cup then we finish. The Premier League is as big as possible,” concluded the Spaniard.

The race for the Premier League Title: Manchester City v Liverpool

Liverpool and Manchester City have the slimmest of margins between them as the Premier League is in its last stages. For the past few seasons, both the teams have been fighting each other for the title in a similar fashion with Manchester City coming out stronger on more than one occasion.

As the drama builds, the fans may also see the fight being extended till the last matchday. If the one-point difference continues till the last match-day, it will be the second time that the winner will be decided with a one-point difference after the 2018-19 season.
