Maria Sharapova, the former Russian tennis star hung up her racquets and announced her retirement from tennis earlier this year. The Russian won five Grandslam titles, and is one of the only few players who have completed their Career Grandslam, which includes winning all the four majors atleast once.
Recently, the Russian was asked about the players she would want to play against. The Russian has faced several opponents in her career, however there are many players she has not competed with. Sharapova replied, “I will start with Steffi Graf… I enjoyed watching her because she was so elegant and she made it look easy. That was hard for me because I was talented but I was tall and I was lanky and I wasn’t a good mover.“

Steffi Graf is one of the most accomplished players in the history of tennis. The German won 22 Grandslam titles in her career and is looked upon as an inspiration by many youngsters. Back in her playing days, Graf’s movement on court was unmatched, something which Sharapova agreed with. “When she moved, she was fluid and she looked really beautiful doing it,” the Russian said.
Moving ahead to the male player, Sharapova would have loved to play against, she stated that it would be John McEnroe. “I think my male choice would be John McEnroe cause I would just have a lot of fun,” she said. McEnroe had won 7 Grandslam titles in his career , which includes three Wimbledon titles and four US Open titles.
Maria Sharapova recently announced her engagement with British businessman, Alexander Gilkes. The Russian after retiring from tennis is focusing on her business ventures and her private life.
