Sean O’Malley is one of the most famous bantamweight fighters of the present time in UFC. Sugar Sean was the champion of the Ultimate Fighter and in his UFC carrier, he won the performance of the night bonus in 3 out of his 4 fights. All was going decent for Sean O’Malley until he faced Marlon Vera at UFC 252.

Chito Vera broke his undefeated streak in MMA and gave first L in the record column of Sean O’Malley. Vera won that fight by first-round TKO and Sugar Sean got injured in that fight too which ruled him out from the Octagon for a while. But according to sources he has been booked to enter the Octagon at UFC 258.

This too is uncertain for now because according to O’Malley he has been booked against Thomas Almeida but he refused to fight him. Speaking on the Sugar show, O’Malley says “I was supposed to be fighting Feb. 13 against—I didn’t say it, because I didn’t know.”

“I got offered, Thomas Almeida. He turned it down, he said my right hand was too powerful or something along those lines of COVID or something, so he turned the fight down. Good decision on his part would have been a nasty KO.” Almeida isn’t having a good run in UFC recently as he is on a three-fight losing streak.

O’Malley further added, “So we’re still looking, but that’s who I was planning on fighting. I never announced it because obviously it wasn’t official and it’s not going to be official. That fight’s not happening, still looking, but I plan on fighting in February.”

Sean O’Malley is keeping a close eye on the Bantamweight division

The injury against Marlon Vera ruled out Sean O’Malley from the Octagon for a while but he is keeping a close eye on the bantamweight division. While talking about the fight between Dominick Cruz and Casey Kenney, Sugar Sean says

Dominick Cruz vs. Casey Kenney just got announced. Casey Kenney’s one of my buddies I trained with for a while at the lab. That’s an interesting matchup. That’s another fight that I would have liked to get, was Cruz, but that didn’t happen, but that’s okay. I’m gonna fight someone and it’s gonna be sick.”

Now when Sean O’Malley is completely fit and hoping for a return it is going to be interested to see whom he’ll be facing next.
