Cody Garbrandt, the former UFC Bantamweight Champion could have been a flyweight champion by now, had he competed in UFC 255 against Deiveson Figueiredo and beaten him. He was supposed to make his flyweight debut. But, fate had other plans, as Cody suffered a torn bicep prior to the match and was replaced by Alex Perez. Deiveson Figueiredo ultimately won the match and successfully defended his flyweight title.
More recently, Cody took to Instagram that he has been suffering from several other health issues as well, ever since contracting COVID during the month of August.
“I have been battling vertigo, tore my vein in my bicep” – Cody Garbrandt on Instagram

Cody Garbrandt in his Instagram story said, “Disclaimer from my last post, I was positive for COVID Aug 29th. Since then I have been battling vertigo, tore my vein in my bicep which resulted in finding out I have blood clots, pneumonia and mental fog, these are the symptoms I’ve had and been dealing with and this is the reason I pulled out of the fight. I haven’t done any media, but I’d like to address it on my own terms. (via MMA Mania)
But, a determined Cody is pretty confident that he will be up and running very soon. He recently even expressed his desire to fight Deiveson Figueiredo as early as March, next year, claiming that he would knock him out in the very first round.
Will Cody Garbrandt come back stronger than ever? Will we get to see the pre-2018 version of Cody “No Love” Garbrandt again? Only time will tell!
