The Brazilian veteran fighter, Edson Barboza, the longtime lightweight fighter, has been fighting in the UFC for a decade now. Edson Barboza has one fight left in his UFC contract and he is tired of thinking about what his next move will be.

The Brazilian made his debut in 2010 against Mike Lullo to whom he lost via a TKO. Edson is ranked #15 in the featherweight division right now. The 2010 debutant has a commendable record of 21-9-0. His last fight was at the UFC Fight Night on October 20, 2020. The Brazilian won the fight by decision in the third round against Makwan Amirkhani.

Edson Barboza has reached his final fight of the contract with no sign of extension from the UFC board. The featherweight talent is looking to wrap his career up and look ahead on future ventures. In a recent interview, Barboza revealed that he’s been hitting the gym hard since December. This is a sign of letting the UFC know that he’s ready to go for his next fight.

“I’m 100% healthy,” says Barboza

Edson Barboza in the recent interview when asked about his contract extension said, “Nope, nothing changed.”

“I was just waiting. I called my manager end of December and said, ‘Hey, if the UFC wants to give me a fight, please, I’m ready, and I was training a lot December, January. I’m ready. If the UFC gives me an opportunity to fight real soon, to fight the last fight, I’m ready. If you’re going to renew my contract, let’s see what happens, or let me go. I have three options right now, but let’s see what happens. Like I said, I have one more fight, and I’m ready for this fight.”

Edson Barboza is looking to get a fight in the month of February or March and seal his deal in the UFC.
