“I held my nerves,” Novak Djokovic scores No.83 at Roland Garros after a  testing win over former coach’s newest prodigy Alex Molcan

Novak Djokovic played his heart out in the third set against the Slovakian Alex Molcan who is being coached by Djokovic’s former coach. The world No.1 seemed to be sailing through to round three after winning the first two sets comfortably.

However, the Slovakian prodigy came back into the third set with a different mindset from the first two and got the break. However, Djokovic was quick to pull the game back but the 24-year-old made it very hard for the world No.1.

Both the players kept on fighting and the game reached a tie-break. In the tie-break, Djokovic used all his experience to dominate his young opponent and ended up winning the match 6-2, 2-3. 7(7)-6(4).

Djokovic was on the brink of losing his first set at the Roland Garros 2022 and ended up winning the match in straight sets yet again.

Novak Djokovic won his 83rd match at the Roland Garros. With this win, the french open became the slam with the most no. of victories for the world No.1.

The Serbian has won two french open titles and is the defending champion. Djokovic will be looking to defend his title this year and make it his third french open win.

After the match, he said, “So far so good, I am pleased with the way I am hitting the ball. Tricky conditions, opponent a specialist for clay, tough match. I held my nerves in the TB after letting him back in the third set”
