I hope Roger will still play, I would love to play with him again: Belinda Bencic on Roger Federer
The first grand slam of the year, Australian Open is just a few days away. The build-up to the mega event is no less. Although Roger Federer is not playing at the tournament, his mixed doubles partner at the Hopman Cup and former, Belinda Bencic seems quite excited about it. The Swiss even transformed her hotel room into a training ground and is making full use of her quarantine.
Belinda Bencic was recently asked whether she would pair up with Roger Federer again at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. She seemed quite confident about it, but looked uncertain whether the Olympics would even take place this year.
“Sure,” said Bencic. “But it also depends on whether there will be an Olympics.”
She also mentioned that she wanted Federer to play more and more. She mentioned that she likes to play with him and would love to do that again.
“I hope Roger will still play, I would love to play with him again,” added the Swiss player.
Belinda Bencic keeps in touch with Roger Federer and his wife
The Swiss pair of Federer and Bencic enjoyed great success at the Hopman Cup 2019 in Australia. They are also friends off-court. Thus, she was also asked whether she still had any contact with Federer and his wife Mirka lately. She also said Federer is a nice man and she can approach him whenever she needs any bit of advice.
“Yes, I keep in touch with both of them. It’s nice of Roger that I can always ask him anything when I need experienced advice,” concluded Bencic.
Swiss Bencic will begin her 2021 campaign at the Australian Open 2021. She certainly looks in great form and will be eyeing her maiden Grand Slam title in Melbourne this year. Meanwhile, fans will also be hoping that they get to see her play with Federer again.
