Toronto Raptors had a good playoff run in the 2019-20 season. With majority of their players stepping up in the season one time or the other, Kyle Lowry and Fred VanVleet had significant roles to play. But as the offseason begins, we have seen majority of players signing for rival franchises. VanVleet is also among those from Raptors who have entered the free agency.  

Recently the Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that Toronto Raptors star Fred VanVleet agreed to sign a new 4-year deal with the team. This was the news that every Raptors fan wanted to hear. VanVleet’s teammate Kyle Lowry was also very excited at the prospect of an extended association.

Lowry took to Instagram and wrote, “BOY!!! BET ON YOURSELF!! This day has legit come from blood sweet and broken teeth. This my little brother yo, I’m so happy for him y’all don’t understand man!! Wow since day ONE I knew this man was special!!”

VanVleet has been one of the most important players on the Raptors team. He has been their go-to shooter and can act as a backup point guard too. 

 
He played a pivotal role in the 2018-19 NBA season, where the Raptors trumped the Golden State Warriors. During their run to the Finals, VanVleet hit multiple clutch 3-pointers and showed how valuable he truly is to the Raptors. 

VanVleet has become a mainstay in Nick Nurse’s side. VanVleet entered the free agency for a better salary. Toronto certainly realized how important he has been to their squad. So, it seems like it was a win-win for all parties involved.
