“I miss tennis after everything that has happened!” Novak Djokovic EXCITED to make a comeback at Dubai after vaccine controversy

Novak Djokovic is finally set for some on-court action as he prepares to play his first match of the year at the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championship. Ahead of his return, the World No.1 attended the Expo 2020 to promote his foundation.
Djokovic attended the event with his wife Jelena. In his first public press conference since his Australian Open debacle, Djokovic spoke about his return to the tour after missing the tournaments in Australia as he failed to satisfy the requirements to enter the country.
The Serbian expressed his delight to finally play in Dubai, where he has won 5 titles in the past and said he is raring to kick off his season next Monday. Djokovic also added that he missed playing tennis over the last couple of months. The World No.1 was attending an event for his foundation, the Novak Djokovic Foundation, which promotes early childhood education in Serbia.
“It feels great to be here. I always love Dubai, love coming here, and had plenty of tennis success and I’m excited to go out on the tennis court next Monday. I miss tennis honestly after everything that has happened in a previous couple of months and of course, the purpose of the visit to the expo is obviously promoting our foundation’s work. I’m just glad we managed to combine the schedule, it allowed me to be here with everyone,” Djokovic said at Expo 2022 ahead of Dubai Tennis Championships.
He also spoke in length about the Chinese tennis scene and said some work needs to be done on the men’s side to make improvements. And also said he is excited to make a return in China as well, where he won many titles.
“I always had wonderful experiences in Shanghai and Beijing, some of the best tournaments in the world. I know how popular tennis is in China and I’ve seen over the years, China obviously being the country that nurtures the tradition of racquet sports lot, It’s always a pleasure to experience the support that I’ve been experiencing in China and I hope I’ll be back very soon. There is a lot of success in women’s tennis, things could be a bit better in the men’s tennis- could be improved,” he said.

Djokovic also spoke about the ongoing Beijing Winter Olympics and revealed he was brought up in a skiing family and is a huge fan of skiing. He also revealed that skiing helped him with his flexibility and sliding. The Serb is well known for sliding around the court and stretching into splits to track down the opponent’s shot and return it from a near-impossible angle.
“Skiing has helped me with my sliding and flexibility a lot, particularly in the flexibility of my ankles because I was skiing a lot and playing on the snow and sliding. I can slide and do a lot on different surfaces nowadays,” he added.
