‘I should have went for that treble’ Conor McGregor regrets not challenging Woodley for a third title

Tyron Woodley and Conor McGregor

Conor McGregor became the first UFC champion back in late 2016 to hold two championship belts of different weight classes at the same time. He won the second championship by defeating Eddie Alvarez and that time ‘The Notorious’ had the chance to become the first triple champion by facing Tryon Woodley for the third title but this never happened.
Right after becoming the double champion Conor chosen the massive money fight against the boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. In this fight, McGregor lost his debut fight in Boxing against the ‘Money’ but this was no doubt one of the biggest sporting events of the history of combat sports.
Now, ‘The Notorious’ regrets his choice of not facing Tryon Woodley for the third championship belt before facing Mayweather. In his tweet Conor says, “Currently watching Woodley Wonderboy 1 on BT Sport. I should have gone for that treble real quick. Pre Floyd. Ah well, the game is still young”.
Woodley shared a quick response to McGregor
Woodley isn’t amongst the ones who only sit and listen to people taking him on social media. He shared a response to Conor’s tweet saying “shoulda woulda wouldn’t have #Allcap”. With this, he stated that if Conor wanted to do this he should have done this. Now there is no excuse.
If this match would have been set up it was going to be one of the greatest events of UFC especially a fighter like Conor McGregor going for the third title. This would have gathered a huge crowd for sure. But now it is almost impossible for this fight to happen.
Woodley is 38 years old and lost his last three fights, on the other hand, Conor is eying for the Lightweight Title now after Khabib’s retirement. But who knows if this happens Conor will get one more thing to add to his MMA’s records.
