“I want to improve everything always,” Rafael Nadal after his third round victory over Jordan Thompson at the Paris Masters

Rafael Nadal registered a straight sets victory over Jordan Thompson in the 3rd round of the Rolex Paris Masters on Thursday. This win comes just a day after his 1000th ATP win over Feliciano Lopez in Round 2. Against Lopez, Nadal had to dig deep to grind out a victory as he made a comeback after being a set down to progress further. However, against Jordan Thompson, the Spaniard dominated the match right from the onset.
Speaking after his victory over Jordan Thompson, Rafael Nadal stressed on the importance of improving everyday and focus on things he can improve on. “I want to improve everything always (smiling). But that’s the work of every day, no? Try to fix the things that I think I can do it better,” said Rafael Nadal.
This statement speaks volumes about the Spaniard’s dedication to tennis and his constant urge to focus on the things that make him a better player. This mentality of Rafael Nadal over the years has guided him winning 1001 ATP matches on tour.
Rafael Nadal on course to claim his first Paris Masters title

Rafael Nadal is a man on a mission at the Paris Masters this years. Not only does he want the 650 ATP points which would guarantee him a year end ranking of number 2, he also wants to clinch his first Paris Masters title, a trophy that has eluded him for almost 14 years. The Spaniard reached the semifinals of the Paris Masters last year but had to withdraw owing to an abdominal injury. However, things look brighter for the top seed as he is well rested and had no physical injuries coming into the tournament.
After his straight sets victory over Jordan Thompson in Round 3, Rafael Nadal now faces fellow countryman, Pablo Carreno Busta in the quarterfinals on Friday. Nadal has beaten Busta in all of their 6 meetings so far and is expected to do the same when they clash again in Paris on Friday. Nadal upped his game in the 3rd round, finding rhythm early on in his match, unlike his 2nd round encounter against Feliciano Lopez where he was out of sorts in the opening few exchanges.
