I was all over Michael Jordan, says Shawn Marion
Former NBA Player Shawn Marion spoke about his performance against Michael Jordan playing for the Washington Wizards. Many suggest Jordan wrote his legacy until he was playing with the Chicago Bulls and under Phil Jackson. After his move to the Washington Wizards, Jordan was not able to achieve the prime and accolades he did while playing for the Bulls. Having team members like Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman, Jordan just did not know how to back down.
But even when he moved to the Wizards, he did turn up his dance when he wanted to against any defender he wants. Jordan might have had a not so successful stint with the Wizards, he was still better than most. However, Marion shared a similar experience when he was told to guard Michael Jordan in 2002 in a recent interview.
“He Just Had a Better Offence” Shawn Marion on Michael Jordan
Marion said, “Man, I am trying to block his shot, what are you talking about man? He was shaking in his boots. That’s MJ, come on now be real, that’s it. He was like don’t get the game winner on me. I am [defending] that man up the best I way I can. Look, I am all over him, that was great defense, but he just had a better offense.”
However, one can’t blame Jordan entirely. When he came back out of retirement to play for the Wizards, the league started focusing on new young stars. Also, his Wizards’ roster wasn’t same as the 90’s Bulls. Despite all odds, MJ was doing great for the Wizard’s early season. But right before the All-Star break, MJ injured his knee and was never the same.
