Andrey Rublev recently spoke about his decision not to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics. While the Russian was not allowed to represent his country, he could have played as a neutral player if he decided to participate.

However, Rublev decided against taking part in the Summer Games. Though he was looking forward to the event, he pulled out as he was not happy with his tennis and wanted time to figure it out.

In a recent interview with ATP, he revealed that he was unhappy with his performance at the French Open and the Wimbledon, which meant he was mentally not ready to part in the Games.

The reality may be harsh, but I have to admit that for the Olympic Games, I was not mentally ready. Just look at my results at Roland Garros and Wimbledon. I can’t keep doing the same thing and expect different results.

Rublev suffered a third-round exit to Matteo Arnaldi at the French Open followed by first-round defeats at the Halle Open and Wimbledon.

Andrey Rublev had a couple of great runs in recent tournaments. While other players took on the Olympic challenge, he worked on his game and had a semifinal run at the Croatia Open before a quarterfinal finish at the Citi Open.

He lost to Frances Tiafoe at the Citi Open after fighting hard in the second set. He next turns his attention to the Canadian Open, where he Tomas Etcheverry in the first round.

Rublev had signed up for both doubles and singles at the Masters 100 event. He partnered with Karen Khachanov in doubles and lost in the first round to Lloyd Glasspool and Nikola Mektic. Now, he can focus on the singles and hope to get another good run.
