Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has cleared the air about the club doing a large amount of business in the upcoming summer transfer window. The German boss insists that he wouldn’t be in a position of trouble even if there was a transfer ban.
The London giant’s have recently been heavily linked with striker Erling Haaland as well as Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero.
Thomas Tuchel won’t be going all out in the transfer window
Chelsea were big spenders in the last transfer window bringing in a host of new players- Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech and more. The club is heavily backer by owner Roman Abramovich and hence finances are not a major concern. However Chelsea must have learnt that quality over quantity is always better.
This time around Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland is the number one name making the rounds not just for Chelsea but for other major European clubs like Manchester City, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. Moreover with Sergio Aguero leaving Manchester City, Chelsea are fast emerging as a potential candidate for him.
When it comes to defensive department, Bayern Munich’s Niklas Sule was earlier heavily linked with a move to London. But now with the resurgence of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger plus the presence of veteran Thiago Silva, that looks unlikely.
“Honestly, if we have a transfer ban tomorrow, I would be a happy coach next season,” Tuchel told reporters. “So we can push this team to the next limit and level, like we do. But I have ideas, of course, I have ideas how to improve this team maybe.
It’s very, very difficult because, first of all, we have a very strong group with a strong bond, which means that we need excellent characters. That is the most important thing because we have top guys in the dressing room, and I will not allow anybody to ruin that and have a bad influence in there.
“It’s not like a puzzle where you take out a piece and put the next piece in. This is a complex situation, every transfer market. So I’m absolutely calm at the moment because of course, we have some ideas, some profiles, maybe which we think we could add to this group to make maybe even a bit more competitive, more options.
