As expected, this video went viral across social media platforms, sparking widespread reactions and passionate responses from the fight fan community. Most comments were wholesome, expressing admiration and support, but a few malicious ones surfaced, quickly catching the attention of many. Several fans accused the fighter of using his child to repair his image and gain favor among fellow competitors.
Others claimed Garry tried sabotaging JDM’s weight cut by tempting him with snacks, possibly causing him to miss the welterweight limit. This could give the ‘Future’ a last-minute chance to step in, grabbing headlines and getting to fight Belal Muhammad. The fighter was observed to do the same stunt against his former rival Daniel Rodriguez back in 2023.
UFC welterweight champion doesn’t think Ian Garry is required at UFC 315
Ian Garry’s rise in the UFC has been rapid due to his fighting style and trash-talking abilities in order to promote himself. He recently fought a brutal, close fight with Shavkat Rakhmonov, almost submitting the top welterweight contender. On top of that, beating knockout specialist Carlos Prates via unanimous decision has silenced many of his persistent critics.

With that win, Garry became a legitimate top welterweight contender, now just one fight away from a UFC title shot. He had already laid out his plans to fight for the belt and promised to be the substitute fighter for UFC 315. However, in a recent interview, Belal Muhammad mentioned that Garry will not need to do anything as such.
I had no knowledge and even when he said it in the cage, there’s no way this guy is about to strap up as the backup. Because he looked like he got beat up, especially in that fifth round. Is he going to make weight again and is it going to be worth it? Because I’m not pulling out, and I know Jack’s not pulling out coming all the way from Australia. But he’s trying, right? Especially in a division now where people are saying there isn’t a clear number one contender.

Garry also met Belal Muhammad during his visit to UFC 315, and both fighters shared a brief interaction. Muhammad has often shown respect for Garry’s skillset and backed him up in the past during media appearances and interviews. The respect is mutual, but the ‘Future’ wants to beat Muhammad and become the new face of the welterweight division soon.
Can Ian Garry beat Belal Muhammad?
Belal Muhammad is currently in terrific form and is the fan favourite to win against Jack Della Maddalena this weekend. In such a scenario, it won’t be surprising to see him fight Ian Garry next, who is a legitimate threat. Muhammad’s wrestling, cardio, and durability can create huge problems for Garry, but the Irishman has been tested.

His confidence and youth give him a real chance to secure a win but it won’t be easy at all. The Irishman has already visualised his win and also talked about potentially defending his welterweight belt against Islam Makhachev. Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see what Garry’s future shapes up.
