Ibrahima Konate set to be targeted by Premier League clubs now as Dayot Upamecano gets signed by Bayern Munich
RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano has agreed personal terms with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich. His release clause will be paid by Bayern Munich when the summer transfer window opens and then they will turn to other targets. The centre-back rejected moves to Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United and was fixated on joining Bayern Munich since the club satisfied his immediate demands. With this having happened, attention now turns to Ibrahima Konate.
Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United turn their attention to lesser known target Ibrahima Konate
While Dayot Upamecano stole the spotlight with his defensive performances and became a target for many other clubs, one player was going about his task silently. His centre-back partner Ibrahima Konate was putting in great performances and was slowly starting to get the attention he deserved. Reports have always said that Liverpool prioritised the signing of Ibrahima Konate more than Dayot Upamecano, and now they will face competition for the signing of Konate from Chelsea and Manchester United.
The French centre-back will most likely be present in the Euro 2021 tournament for France in the summer and a move will have to be made then by clubs. He has a release clause that is estimated to be around £36 million, which is lesser than his compatriot’s release clause. It remains to be seen which club will be the first to make a move and to whom will Konate sign.
