Indian skipper Virat Kohli climbed one spot to reach second in the ICC Batsmen’s Test Rankings. The latest rankings which were announced today saw Kohli leapfrog New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson without playing, despite the fact that the latter had scored 251 runs in one innings against the West Indies. The reason for the same could be the fact that Williamson missed out on playing the 2nd Test.

Standing firm on top is Australian batting ace Steve Smith who has 911 points and leads Kohli by 25 points. Indian batters Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane are also a part of the top 10 at 7th and 10th position respectively. Pujara has 766 points while Rahane has 726.

Jasprit Bumrah and R Ashwin in top 10 for bowlers

In the rankings for bowlers, it was Australian Pat Cummins who retained top spot with 904 points. The only Indians in the top 10 are pacer Jasprit Bumrah and spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Bumrah is at the 8th spot with 779 points while Ashwin has 756 and is 10th.

In the all-rounders’ ranking, Ashwin finds a place again as he is ranked 6th. Ravindra Jadeja is ranked 3rd behind England’s Ben Stokes and West Indies’ Jason Holder. In the team rankings, India is ranked third behind Australia and New Zealand. The rankings could change a great deal after the Test series between India and Australia which will begin on December 17.
