The Department of Homeland Security announced that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) won’t conduct any immigration enforcement operations at the site of Super Bowl LX. However, the organisation will be present in the San Francisco area next week during the time of the event.
According to TMZ, the Feds will be present during the event to ensure the safety of the fans, as with any SEAR 1 event. SEAR 1 (Special Event Assessment Rating), assigned the highest level of security by the Department of Homeland Security for events of national or significant importance, has been applied to highly attended events nationwide, including the Super Bowl, the Indianapolis 500, and NOLA Mardi Gras. There will be numerous law enforcement agencies, such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation, to intervene in situations that may require immediate interagency coordination.
As per TMZ’s sources, these officers would be responsible for protection and safety, not for enforcing immigration operations. Furthermore, it has been reported that there have been no talks of ICE presence at the events in the lead-up to Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.

Though the absence of the organization has eased some tensions, the fans are still wary of a threatening presence. Earlier, DHS advisor Corey Lewandowski had noted that there would be a visible ICE presence during the event. Furthermore, San Jose Council member Peter Ortiz told the San Jose Spotlight that he had found an internal memo stating that the agents would land at Moffett Federal Airfield in Mountain View two days before the final.
The Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been facing heavy scrutiny in the past weeks since the two fatal shootings in Minnesota. After the eight reported deaths in connection with ICE, including the high-profile deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, there has been a strong voice against the agency among the public. It’s reported that several Americans are planning to take to the roads on January 30 and 31 in an ICEOUT protest, demanding the removal of the controversial organisation from their cities and towns.
Amid local concerns, “Batman” criticizes the Bay Area Council over ICE during Super Bowl LX
An unidentified man dressed as Batman delivered a fiery rebuke of Santa Clara city officials Tuesday night. The individual accused the officials of failing to protect residents from potential Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity tied to Super Bowl LX.

The man spoke during public comment at a joint meeting of the Santa Clara City Council, city authorities, and the Santa Clara Stadium Authority. His remarks centered on the city’s cooperation or lack of formal limits with federal immigration enforcement ahead of the Super Bowl. He asked the council:
What the f**k are we doing here? You have had months to prepare for this upcoming event.
The speaker accused city leaders of allowing federal agencies to “walk all over” Santa Clara. In his fiery speech, he demanded immediate action to bar the use of city resources, data, or personnel in cooperation with ICE. He added:
Can any one of you go home to your children and tell them that you did everything you could to protect their classmates, their grandparents? I don’t think you can.

He concluded with a scorching condemnation of the council, saying, “As of right now, I stand in front of a council of cowards.” He went on to say that inaction in this situation will turn them from cowards into traitors who have betrayed their city. In a final delivery, he clarified that it was a demand to take action, not a plea for the same.
