Naomi Osaka looks to be in terrific form ahead of the Australian Open 2021 as she earned a place at the semi-final of the WTA 500 Melbourne 2 tournament. She defeated Irina-Camelia Begu in straight sets with a scoreline of 7-5, 6-1. She looked completely in control throughout the match despite the fact that the first set took 12 games to find a winner. In the second set, she completely blew away her opponent.

Osaka will now be the prime favorite to go on and win the tournament. Even if she wins, it will merely be warm-up for the big event coming up – the Australian Open. She will be one of the strongest favorites to win the Grand Slam and there are huge expectations and hence, pressure on her. But, the Japanese star looks unfazed by it all in her quest to become a great of the game.

Osaka spoke at the post-match presentation following her win over Irina-Camelia Begu and came up with a quirky request. She said, “Actually, I was gonna ask for like, restaurant recommendations. Like, a good take out because I don’t really want those legs to sit in, I’d like to take the food and watch like, Netflix by myself. So, if anyone has some good take-out recommendations, it’ll be alright.”

She then went on to thank her fans for coming to cheer her and said, “Thanks, everyone for staying. Personally, I don’t know if it’s jetlag, I probably would have been sleeping else. So, I’m really happy you guys are up and here. So, thank you very much for staying.” and signed off.
