“I’d sleep him in the first round” – Patricio Freire thinks Alexander Volkanovski will be no match for him
Patricio Freire is probably the greatest ever fighter in the history of Bellator MMA. The younger Freire brother is also the number 3 ranked featherweight in the ‘world’. At the recently concluded Bellator 252, the Brazilian completely mauled Pedro Carvalho, winning via KO in the very first round. And he even claimed in the post-fight interview that he was the best in the world, also going on to say he was ready for a cross promotional bout against UFC’s very own Conor McGregor.
More recently, he took to Twitter to claim that he would beat current UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski with ease.
Patricio Freire is super-confident that he would beat Alexander Volkanovski
Patricio Freire retweeted Ben Askren’s tweet where Ben and Front Row Brian are heard talking about Patricio’s prowess and also how he can even beat Alexander Volkanovski. The two even discussed how they had under-estimated Patricio’s skill and power. Patricio captioned it saying, “I know he’s right, except for me vs Volkanovski being a pick ’em. I’d sleep him in the first round.“
Patricio Freire is unbeaten in his last six fights, which also includes an impressive first round knockout over UFC newcomer Michael Chandler. On the other hand, Alexander Volkanovski has just been stopped once in his career. The Australian is unbeaten in more than 7 years and is currently 9-0 in the UFC.
What do you think will happen if there is a cross promotional bout between the featherweight champions of Bellator and UFC? It’s high time UFC and Bellator make at least one cross-promotional fight happen!
