I’d win but he will be paid more: Dustin Poirier on Michael Chandler fight
There is absolutely no doubt that any fight a top-ranked lightweight division fighter is involved in, becomes a hit. Dustin Poirier has been one among the handful of fighters who have made their way onto the top of the division via hard work and courage. But ‘The Diamond’ has had his spat with the World’s premier MMA organization over a decent pay cheque time and again in the recent months.
After dropping his fight for a potential co-main event at UFC 254 against Tony Ferguson over the same reason. Poirier clearly showed his dismay with the UFC over his pay. Just after that, Poirier has again taken a dig at the organization on being asked about his fight with Michael Chandler. Even earlier it was being stated that Poirier has dropped the offer to fight Chandler over two reasons. One of them being pay.

Chandler, a former three-time Bellator lightweight champion, signed with the UFC earlier and will serve as a backup for the highly anticipated UFC 254 main event between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje.
Poirier was expected to fight Ferguson in the co-main event but ‘The Diamond’ couldn’t reach a financial agreement with the UFC. The Louisianan wants to be treated as a ‘prize fighter’ before he accepts any more high-profile matchups. Ferguson, the former interim lightweight champion, agrees that the UFC should pay Poirier his worth.
