NBA coaches and their future is quite uncertain as the job comes with success and failures. Some stay for more than five years, while some get fired two years or even one year into the season depending on how the team performs. But a select few go on to create a huge impact on the league, and Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is one of them.
Notably, Kerr recently made an interesting admission regarding his coaching career and his star player, Stephen Curry. Kerr claimed that without his star man, the Warriors HC would have been just another head coach in the league.
I’m well aware that the reason I’m still here is because Steph Curry is still here. I’m not being modest, I’m just telling the truth. If I didn’t have Steph, I would have been like every other NBA coach and lasted a few years, and then gone somewhere else and coached somewhere else.

Kerr is not only praising Curry but also acknowledging a win-win collaboration. The two-time MVP gives Kerr consistency, while the head coach provides leadership and organization. Their partnership is the foundation of one of the most influential periods in NBA history. Without Curry, Kerr views his future as less certain and expects to switch jobs, like many others without a franchise cornerstone.
Furthermore, Kerr offered more in-depth explanations of Curry’s philosophy and parallels with other great players of the past. The head coach pointed out a significant distinction between Michael Jordan‘s and Curry’s mindsets. Jordan’s intent sounded aggressive, but Curry played joyfully.
Despite their drastically different styles, Kerr also noted that Curry reminded him of Jordan rather than LeBron James because of their common competitive fire. All in all, Curry and Kerr are a perfect example of a successful player-coach bond, winning multiple titles together, and are now targeting another one ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season.
Stephen Curry makes a hilarious LeBron James golf confession
If one were following Stephen Curry and LeBron James’ off-season activities, then one will surely know that their love for golf has increased with every year, especially regarding the Lakers’ legend. James has been on the golf course several times this year, claiming that he was completely obsessed.
It is something that Curry recently agreed with in an interview with Sky Sports. The Warriors superstar also made a hilarious admission about James in the process.
We all want to welcome LeBron James to the world of golf because the game needs you, big fella. He’s obsessed with it. He’s out there a lot more than I actually thought he’d be right off the jump. So he gets it, which is great.
Stephen Curry told Sky Sports
Earlier this August, James’s bond with the sport deepened—a quiet moment captured in an Instagram story of him playing in the rain. Now, his foray into this arena opens the door to thrilling possibilities. Imagine the spectacle if he were to face Curry, Jordan, Charles Barkley, or even his old running mate, J.R. Smith. That wouldn’t just be television—it would be a front-row seat to history in the making.
Quinn Cook revealed that Kevin Durant wanted Stephen Curry to win the NBA Finals MVP in 2018
The Warriors, led by Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, were unstoppable back in 2018. One could say that both Curry and Durant were at their peak of their careers, so much so that they were going toe-to-toe concerning the NBA Finals MVP award.

Notably, their former teammate Quinn Cook revealed an interesting story involving Durant and Curry. Cook claimed that Durant wanted Curry to win the MVP award ahead of him.
Kevin wanted Steph to get that Finals MVP the next year. That’s all he was talking about all season. I can’t wait till Steph gets his Finals MVP so he can shut up everybody. The naysayers.
Quinn Cook said on Players Choice
Durant walked away with the Finals MVP. But don’t forget Steph Curry was on a heater of his own, rewriting the record books with 9 three-pointers in Game 2 of the 2018 Finals against Cleveland. Then, in Game 3, KD showed a whole different ballgame.
Every shot, every possession, pure takeover mode. It was greatness on full display—Durant proving he could win even with Curry right there and doing it with a humility that kept the spotlight wide enough for them both. Luckily for the former MVP, he finally won the Finals MVP during the 2021/22 season when the Warriors won their fourth championship in the Steve Kerr-Steph Curry era.
